Athena
Owning a pet is a long-term commitment that can last for more than 10 years. However, some people may face difficulties in fulfilling this commitment due to various reasons. In some cases, people may not have enough knowledge about their pet's breed, grooming, exercise, or dietary needs, which can make it hard for them to provide the necessary care. As a result, they may need to surrender the pet to someone who can give it the attention and care it deserves. Diamond in the Ruff is an organization that provides such care to dogs in need.
Athena is one of the dogs that was surrendered to Diamond in the Ruff in 2023 due to similar circumstances. When she arrived, she was a young pup with plenty of energy. She needed some grooming, preventive healthcare and treatment for a bad ear infection. Athena needed some TLC before she could find her forever home.
Meanwhile, a young family with three school-age boys had been searching for a dog to add to their family. They had done their research on different breeds, paying special attention to grooming needs, exercise requirements, and behavior. They had a large yard with a fence in a dog-friendly neighborhood. When they saw that Diamond in the Ruff was looking for a foster home for Athena, they jumped at the opportunity.
It turned out to be a perfect fit for the family. Athena fit right into the family dynamic and never left her foster home. She became the proud dog-sister to three little boys, made many neighborhood dog friends, and even got to walk to school every day to drop off her boys. The joy that a dog can bring to a home is immeasurable. Their unwavering loyalty, silly antics, and ability to sense when people need some extra love and comfort are truly amazing. A house is not a home without a dog!
