Foster Home Feedback:

4/14/15

Hello again!  Monty here.  Thanks for checking out my profile!  The last couple weeks I've been making good some progress with meeting strangers.  I've even let a few people pet me the first time I met them, which is a huge deal for me!  I still bark when they stop petting me or make any movements I'm not comfortable with, but hopefully if I keep practicing that will get better as well.  I'm still waiting for my furever home...will it be you??

Monty has really come a long way since the first day he came to our house.  Now that he's used to us, he loves lots of attention, toys, belly rubs, and treats (of course).  He likes to burrow under the covers in bed and snuggle right in along your side to stay warm.  He is probably one of the most cuddly pups we've had.

Over the last month, Monty's confidence in strange people has improved greatly!  He now comfortably allows strangers to be in the same room as him, as long as they don't move around too much or try to pet him.  We are still working on potty training but are thinking it may have just been the cold weather.  He gets along well with our other dogs. We are unsure how he does around cats but are thinking that he would be fine.  He has learned the routine and is usually the first one in his kennel when he knows it's time.  He also does well in his kennel at night.

With that being said, there are still a few things Monty needs to work on.  He is one of the sweetest most loving pups you'll ever meet once he gets used to you but he has a tendency to bark and nip when he feels threatened.  We are continuing to work with him to introduce him to new people and surroundings.  Monty would do best in a home with adults or older/considerate kids only as he does not like unpredictable movements or commotion.  He also wouldn't mind being an only pup, as he absolutely adores his humans once you win his trust.

All in all, this little guy has a TON of love to give and a very funny personality once he opens up to you!  Monty is looking for a patient, calm, and slow paced home with someone who is willing to work with him.  He will reward you with plenty of kisses, snuggles, and love in return :)
