Springer has been in his foster home for six months now, patiently waiting for his furever home. In that time, he's slowly been trying to learn to trust his human, though he's had some setbacks due to a couple grumpy resident cats. Springer has been the least trusting of his litter and is desperately seeking a calm, quiet place to call his furever home. He needs a loving and patient family who can teach him how to trust and grow confident and who won't be afraid to provide him with "forced love". Springer has learned tha t being pet and scratches on the head are a good thing, e ven if he might startle away easily. He isn't one for being picked up and held and possibly may never be. He has a lot to learn regarding his safety and trust in humans, but he is still young and has many, many years ahead of him to gain confidence and provide love to his family. Springer is a sweet boy who really needs a place to call his own, a place where he won't have to learn the temperament of each new kitty that enters and can instead thrive in a predictable, stable environment. He does okay with other cats and would benefit from a very confident, affectionate feline friend, though he would also likely do well being an only cat.
Springer needs a very patient and loving family who will provide him with the stability, comfort, and love he so deserves while he learns to adjust to and trust his new home and family. Having now spent more than half his life in a foster home, Springer would love to ring in the new year with his furever family! There's no doubt that it will take a special family to accept Springer for all that he is and all that he has yet to learn. Are you that family for him?
Springer and his litter mates were born under the deck of a very kind, caring couple's house. The kittens and their mama survived by finding shelter under the deck and receiving fresh water and food from the sweet owners until they were old enough to be weened and caught. Unfortunately Covid hit right about the time the kittens were old enough, delaying their capture until later than ideal. Once caught, they were surrendered to our rescue in hopes of finding safe, loving, furever homes. (Managing to escape capture for nearly a year now, this is mama cat’s 2nd litter.)
Due to his age when captured and surrendered, Springer is still nervous of people. He loves to play with toys and his siblings, but will shy away from play if his human gets too close. Springer needs a furever family with patience as he continues to learn to trust humans. He needs a calm home without young children or a lot of traffic. Springer would greatly benefit from being adopted with one of his siblings, finding comfort by snuggling with a brother or sister when scared. (When adopted together, the second adoption is half price, making the adoption fee for two kittens only $135!).
~~ Trivial tidbit: Springer was named after the day he was born-- Leap Day. (Leap = Spring.)
** Springer has been using the litter box with no issues. He's been had a wellness exam, is current with vaccinations, and has been FIV/FeLV tested. He is also neutered and microchipped (lifetime enrollment).
